Introducing our beautiful strand of different colored African trade beads, meticulously handcrafted from fused recycled glass by skilled artisans in Kroboland, Ghana. These unique disks are created from tiny seed glass beads, showcasing the remarkable craftsmanship and heritage of Ghanaian bead-making traditions.

Sizes:

  • Strand Length: 20" (51 cm)
  • Bead Diameter: 10 - 11 mm

YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).

The creation of these Krobo fused recycled glass beads involves a fascinating and intricate process:

  • Collection and Preparation: Artisans collect and clean small size glass beads. These are then arranged in molds.
  • Molding: The small glass beads are placed into clay molds that determine the shape and size of the larger beads.
  • Firing: The molds are fired in a kiln at high temperatures, fusing the small beads together to form larger, opaque beads with unique patterns and colors.
  • Finishing: After cooling, the beads are removed from the molds and polished to smooth out rough edges.

These beads are not only vibrant and intricately patterned but also hold significant cultural value in Ghanaian society, often used in ceremonies and as symbols of status and identity.
