Experience the vibrant beauty and cultural richness of our NEW African disk glass beads, expertly crafted from fused recycled tiny seed glass beads by the skilled artisans of Kroboland in Ghana, West Africa. These beads are a testament to the artistry and sustainable practices of the Krobo people, known for their exquisite bead-making techniques.

  • Length of strand: 22" (56 cm)
  • Bead size: 13 - 14 mm in diameter

YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).

Each bead on this strand is made using small recycled seed glass beads. The process begins with the collection and preparation of these tiny glass beads, which are cleaned and sorted. These small beads are then placed into clay molds, determining the shape and size of the final beads. The molds filled with the small glass beads are fired in a kiln at high temperatures. This process fuses the small beads together, forming larger, uniquely patterned and colored beads.

Once cooled, the beads are removed from the molds and polished to smooth out any rough edges. The vibrant colors and intricate patterns of these beads are not only visually stunning but also hold deep cultural significance in Ghanaian society. They are often used in ceremonies and as symbols of status and identity.
