A beautiful strand of new powder glass African beads, made by the talented artisans of Kroboland in Ghana, West Africa. These beads are meticulously crafted to imitate the exquisite old Venetian glass trade beads, showcasing the rich heritage and craftsmanship of the Krobo people.

  • Strand Length: Approximately 24" (61 cm) long
  • Bead Size: Approximately 12 - 13 mm in diameter

These beads are created using a sustainable process where bottles and other glass items are recycled, crushed into a fine powder, and then molded to form these stunning beads. Each bead is 100% handmade, reflecting the dedication and skill of the Krobo artisans.

YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).

The traditional bead-making technique used by the Krobo people is a testament to their ingenuity and cultural heritage. The process involves crushing recycled glass and bottles into a fine powder, which is then carefully placed into molds. These molds are heated in kilns to fuse the glass powder into beautiful beads, each unique in its design and color.

Trade beads have played a significant role in the history of Ghana and Africa, serving not only as decorative items but also as a form of currency and a symbol of social status. These beads carry stories and traditions that span generations, making them a valuable addition to any collection.
