These fused recycled glass beads, also known as Krobo beads, are meticulously crafted using traditional methods passed down through generations in the Krobo region of Ghana. The process begins with the collection and preparation of small glass beads, which are cleaned and arranged into clay molds. These molds determine the shape and size of the final beads.

The molds filled with the small glass beads are then fired in a kiln at high temperatures. This firing process fuses the small beads together into larger beads without completely melting them. The result is a vibrant, opaque bead that showcases the original colors and intricate patterns of the smaller beads used.

Once cooled, the beads are removed from the molds and often polished or refined to smooth out any rough edges. These beads are celebrated for their bright colors and intricate designs, holding significant cultural value in Ghanaian society. They are commonly used in ceremonies and as symbols of status and identity.
