New African Glass Beads Imitating Dutch Annular Trade Beads

New African Glass Beads Imitating Dutch Annular Trade Beads

Introducing a beautiful strand of handmade African trade beads, skillfully crafted by artisans in Kroboland, Ghana. These exceptional beads imitate the old "Dutch Annular" glass trade beads, showcasing traditional craftsmanship and a vibrant history.

  • Strand length: Approximately 20.5" (52 cm) of beads
  • Bead size: 10-12 mm in diameter

Each bead is 100% handmade, produced using fragments of recycled glass. The glass is broken into small pieces and placed in clay molds to create distinctive shapes and patterns. The molds are fired at high temperatures, fusing the fragments while preserving their natural colors and translucency. This meticulous process results in beads that are both eco-friendly and visually stunning.

The Krobo people of Ghana are renowned for their bead-making artistry, which holds cultural significance in ceremonies and as symbols of identity. These beads are a testament to the ingenuity and heritage of African trade beads, offering a glimpse into a centuries-old tradition of bead-making.

YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).
