Discover the beauty and craftsmanship of these unique African trade beads made from fused recycled glass by the talented artisans of Kroboland in Ghana, West Africa. Each strand of beads is meticulously crafted from small recycled glass beads fused together, creating a stunning array of vibrant colors and intricate patterns.

Key Features:

  • Length: 20 3/4" (52.5 cm)
  • Bead Size: 12 - 13 mm in diameter
  • Handmade: Each bead is carefully handmade, ensuring no two strands are exactly alike.

YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).

The creation of these beads involves a detailed process:

Artisans begin by collecting small-sized glass beads, which are placed into molds made from clay. The molds determine the shape and size of each bead. The molds with the glass beads are then fired in a kiln at high temperatures. This fuses the small glass beads together without melting them into a homogeneous mass, resulting in beads that retain some of their original colors and patterns. Once cooled, the beads are removed from the molds and polished to smooth out any rough edges.

These fused recycled glass beads are not just beautiful; they are culturally significant in Ghanaian society. Often used in ceremonies, they are symbols of status and identity, making them a meaningful addition to any collection.
