Venetian lampwork beads, also known as wound glass beads, are crafted using a time-honored technique where molten glass is wound around a mandrel to create the desired shape. This labor-intensive method originated in Venice, Italy, and produced some of the most beautiful and valuable beads in history. The "Thousand Eyes" pattern, achieved by carefully trailing molten glass in various colors, makes these beads truly special. These beads played an important role in trade, especially across West Africa, including Ghana, where they were highly valued as currency and symbols of status.
