Fancy Krobo Powder Glass Beads - Imitation Venetian Trade Beads, 12-13mm
Introducing a stunning strand of Fancy Krobo Powder Glass Beads, beautifully handcrafted in Kroboland, Ghana, West Africa. These exquisite beads are inspired by the iconic designs of old Venetian fancy trade beads, showcasing a vibrant and timeless aesthetic.
Strand Length: Approximately 23" (58.5 cm) long Bead Size: 12-13 mm in diameter
These beads are meticulously handmade using recycled materials like bottles and other glass items. The glass is ground into powder, pressed into molds, and carefully crafted to achieve their unique shapes and intricate designs.
Decoration Process: What sets these fancy Krobo beads apart is their remarkable decoration. Skilled artisans layer powdered glass, natural dyes, and intricate patterns to create vibrant and detailed designs. Using traditional tools, such as metal and wooden instruments, they etch or paint motifs, giving each bead its own character.
Firing: Once decorated, the beads are fired in a kiln at high temperatures. This process fuses the glass powder and locks the designs in place, resulting in durable and beautiful beads.
The Krobo people of Ghana have perfected this artisanal bead-making technique over centuries, contributing to the rich history of African trade beads. Traditionally used as currency, adornments, and symbols of status, these beads carry a legacy that resonates with collectors and artisans worldwide.
YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).
