Large African Brass Beads - Handmade in Ghana, 24" Strand

Large African Brass Beads - Handmade in Ghana, 24" Strand

Introducing a stunning strand of large African brass beads, meticulously handcrafted by the people of Ashanti in Ghana, West Africa. Each bead is created using the ancient and highly respected lost wax technique, where a unique wax mold is made for every bead and then destroyed after casting. These beads are 100% handmade, ensuring that no two beads are exactly alike, adding to their authentic and artisanal charm.

  • Strand length (bead to bead): 24" (61 cm)
  • Bead diameter: 19-20 mm

YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).

These beautiful brass beads are not only a work of art but also steeped in history. The lost wax technique, which has been passed down for centuries, involves crafting a wax mold for each individual bead, covering it in clay, and then melting the wax to make room for molten brass. This labor-intensive process results in stunning, durable beads that symbolize creativity and craftsmanship in Ghanaian culture.

Brass beads have long been a symbol of wealth, power, and spiritual significance among the Ashanti people. Worn during important ceremonies and events, these beads are now prized by artisans and jewelry makers worldwide.
