Handmade African Brass Beads from Ghana – 26.5" Lost Wax Strand

Handmade African Brass Beads from Ghana – 26.5" Lost Wax Strand

This beautiful strand of handmade African brass beads comes from the skilled artisans of the Ashanti/Asante people in Ghana, West Africa. Using the ancient "lost wax" casting technique, each bead is crafted with precision and care. A unique wax mold is created for every bead, which is then destroyed to reveal the final product, ensuring no two beads are exactly alike.

Every strand is a celebration of African craftsmanship and tradition. Made entirely by hand, these beads exhibit remarkable artistry and cultural significance.

  • Strand Length: 26.5 inches (67.5 cm) long (bead-to-bead).
  • Bead Size: 12-20 mm in diameter.

YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).

These beads are made in Ghana by the people of Ashanti using the lost wax technique, a process dating back centuries. The wax model is shaped by hand, then encased in clay to form a mold. Once heated, the wax melts away, leaving a space where molten brass is poured, creating the final bead. The mold is broken to release the bead, meaning each piece is one-of-a-kind. Brass beads hold deep cultural and historical value in Ghana, often used in ceremonies and as symbols of wealth and status.
