Unique Handmade African Brass Beads from Ghana - 26 3/4" Strand

Unique Handmade African Brass Beads from Ghana - 26 3/4" Strand

Discover a beautiful strand of authentic African brass beads, handmade by the people of Ashanti (Asante) in Ghana, West Africa. These brass beads are crafted using the traditional lost wax technique, an ancient process that makes each bead completely unique and full of cultural significance.

In the lost wax process, a wax mold is meticulously hand-carved for each bead. This mold is destroyed once the bead is cast, ensuring that no two beads are exactly alike. These beads, therefore, are a true reflection of African craftsmanship and heritage.

YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).

  • Strand Length: 26 3/4" (67.5 cm) from bead to bead
  • Bead Size: 10-22 mm in diameter

The lost wax technique has been practiced in Ghana for centuries, particularly by the Ashanti people. Brass beads are not only ornamental but carry deep cultural meanings, often used in ceremonies, trading, and as symbols of status. Ghanaian artisans, through this ancient process, preserve the artistry and tradition passed down through generations.

Each of these brass beads tells a story of history, craftsmanship, and culture. Their rustic, yet refined appearance makes them perfect for creating unique jewelry pieces or simply to add to your collection of African artifacts.
