Beautiful Translucent Powder Glass Krobo Beads - Uncommon Color

Discover our stunning new strand of translucent powder glass African beads, masterfully crafted by the skilled artisans of Kroboland in Ghana, West Africa. These exquisite beads imitate the old Bohemian/Czech flower glass trade beads, bringing a touch of history and uniqueness to your collection.

  • Strand Length: 20" (51 cm)
  • Bead Size: 9 mm in diameter

YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).

The people of Krobo in Ghana use an intricate and traditional method to produce these recycled powder glass beads. The raw materials are collected from crushed recycled glass and bottles, which are then ground into a fine powder. This powder is carefully molded into beads and fired in a kiln to create their beautiful translucent finish.

Trade beads have played a significant role in the cultural and economic history of Ghana and Africa. They were historically used as a form of currency and continue to be a symbol of artistic heritage and cultural identity. Owning a strand of these beads means owning a piece of African history and craftsmanship.
