Discover the beauty and craftsmanship of our NEW powder glass African beads, meticulously handcrafted by the talented artisans of Kroboland in Ghana, West Africa. These beads are a stunning imitation of old Venetian FANCY trade beads, perfect for adding a touch of African heritage to your jewelry creations.

  • Strand Length: 26 1/4" (67 cm)
  • Bead Size: 11 mm in diameter

Each bead is made from recycled bottles and other glass items, which are crushed into powder, poured into molds, and then transformed into these exquisite beads. The entire process is done by hand, ensuring each bead is unique and carries the artisan's personal touch.

YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).

What sets our fancy glass beads apart is the intricate decoration process. Artisans in Kroboland use a combination of glass fragments, powdered glass, and natural dyes to create detailed patterns and vibrant designs. They employ metal or wooden tools to etch or paint motifs onto the beads, resulting in intricate and eye-catching designs.

After decoration, the beads are fired in a kiln at high temperatures. This process fuses the glass powder and sets the designs in place, giving the beads their final form and a durable finish.

These beads are not only a testament to the rich tradition of bead-making in Ghana but also an important part of African trade history. Trade beads have been used for centuries across the continent, symbolizing wealth, trade, and cultural exchange.
