Experience the exquisite craftsmanship of our NEW African trade beads, skillfully handcrafted from recycled "White Heart" glass beads by the talented artisans of Kroboland in Ghana, West Africa. Each bead in this stunning strand is carefully fused and polished, resulting in a smooth, glossy surface that showcases their unique cultural heritage and intricate design.

  • Strand length: Approximately 24 3/4" (63 cm)
  • Bead size: Approximately 10 mm in diameter

YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).

These beads are created using a distinctive technique by the Krobo people in Ghana. Small recycled glass beads are collected, cleaned, and placed into clay molds. The molds determine the shape and size of each larger bead. The molds are then fired in a kiln at high temperatures, causing the small beads to fuse together. This process produces solid, non-translucent beads with a smooth and polished finish.

Krobo beads are culturally significant in Ghanaian society, often used in ceremonies and as symbols of status and identity. By choosing these beads, you are not only adding unique, beautiful beads to your jewelry creations but also supporting sustainable practices and the skilled artisans of Ghana.
