Introducing a beautiful strand of new powder glass African beads, meticulously crafted by the skilled artisans of Krobo land in Ghana, West Africa. These beads are designed to imitate the intricate patterns of old Venetian fancy trade beads, bringing a touch of historical elegance to your creations.

  • Strand Length: 25" (63.5 cm)
  • Bead Size: 7 - 8 mm in diameter

Each bead is handmade from recycled glass bottles and other glass items. The glass is ground into powder, then carefully molded to create these stunning beads. The artisans use a combination of glass fragments, powdered glass, and natural dyes to achieve intricate patterns and vibrant designs. They may employ metal or wooden tools to etch or paint detailed motifs onto the beads.

After decoration, the beads are fired in a kiln, where high temperatures fuse the glass powder and set the designs in place, giving the beads their final form. This process not only enhances the beauty of each bead but also ensures their durability.

YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).

The technique used to produce these fancy glass beads has been perfected by the Krobo people of Ghana. This craft is not only a means of livelihood but also a way to preserve a rich cultural heritage. African trade beads have played a significant role in the history of trade across the continent, symbolizing wealth, status, and storytelling.
