Introducing our beautiful strand of NEW African disks/spacers glass beads, handcrafted from recycled tiny seed glass beads by the talented artisans of Kroboland, Ghana (West Africa). These beads are not only a stunning addition to any jewelry collection but also an eco-friendly choice, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Ghana.

  • Strand length: 20 1/2" (52 cm) long
  • Bead size: 11 - 12 mm in diameter

Each bead is meticulously handmade.

YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).

The artisans in Kroboland use a unique technique to create these exquisite fused glass beads. The process begins with collecting and cleaning small-sized glass beads. These beads are then placed into clay molds that determine the shape and size of the final beads. The molds are fired at high temperatures in a kiln, causing the small glass beads to fuse together. This technique results in beads that are not translucent but exhibit a vibrant and intricate appearance.

Krobo beads are known for their vibrant colors and intricate patterns. They hold significant cultural importance in Ghana, often used in ceremonies and as symbols of status and identity. These beads are not only a testament to the skill and creativity of the Krobo artisans but also a meaningful representation of sustainable practices and cultural heritage.
