Discover the beauty and craftsmanship of these exquisite African trade beads made by the talented artisans of Kroboland, Ghana. Our beautiful strand of NEW African disk/spacer glass beads is meticulously crafted from recycled tiny SEED glass beads, reflecting the rich tradition and heritage of the Krobo people.

  • Strand Length: Approximately 20 3/4" (53 cm)
  • Bead Size: 10 - 11 mm in diameter
  • Material: Recycled glass
  • Handmade: Yes, 100% handmade

YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).

These unique beads are made using a fascinating process that highlights the ingenuity and sustainability of the Krobo artisans. Small size glass beads are used as the raw material, which are carefully placed into molds. These molds determine the shape and size of the final beads. The molds are then fired in a kiln at high temperatures, fusing the small beads together to form larger, solid beads. This process results in vibrant, opaque beads with intricate patterns and colors.

The creation of these beads is not only a testament to the Krobo people's craftsmanship but also their commitment to environmental sustainability. Each bead holds cultural significance, often used in ceremonies and as symbols of status and identity within Ghanaian society.
