Discover the beauty of our NEW translucent powder glass African beads, meticulously handcrafted by the talented artisans of Kroboland in Ghana, West Africa. These exquisite beads are inspired by the traditional old Venetian glass trade beads, offering a unique blend of history and artistry.

  • Strand Length: Approximately 20 3/4" (52.5 cm)
  • Bead Size: 15 - 16 mm in diameter

Each bead is made from recycled glass bottles and other glass items, which are crushed into a fine powder. This powder is then carefully molded to create these stunning beads. The entire process is done by hand, ensuring that every bead is unique and of the highest quality.

YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).

Traditional Craftsmanship and Cultural Significance

The people of Krobo in Ghana have perfected the art of making recycled powder glass beads through a technique passed down for generations. This process not only showcases their incredible craftsmanship but also emphasizes the importance of sustainability. The production of these beads involves crushing recycled glass and bottles into a fine powder, which is then meticulously formed into beads.

Trade beads hold significant cultural and historical importance in Ghana and across Africa. They were historically used as a medium of exchange and are now cherished as symbols of heritage and artistry.
