Introducing a stunning strand of NEW African trade beads, meticulously handcrafted from recycled fused glass seed beads by the talented artisans of Kroboland, Ghana, West Africa. Each bead is tumble rounded and polished, resulting in a smooth, glossy surface that enhances their natural beauty.

  • Strand Length: Approximately 23" (58.5 cm)
  • Bead Size: 12 - 13 mm in diameter

YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).

These unique beads are made by fusing small-sized glass beads to create larger, vibrant beads. The process involves placing the small glass beads into molds made from clay, which determine the shape and size of the final beads. These molds are then fired at high temperatures in a kiln, fusing the beads together without melting them completely. This technique preserves some of the original colors and patterns of the small glass beads, resulting in beautifully variegated and intricate designs.

The Krobo people of Ghana have a rich tradition of bead-making, and these fused recycled glass beads hold significant cultural importance. They are often used in ceremonies and as symbols of status and identity, reflecting the vibrant heritage of Ghanaian society.
