Handcrafted Flat African Brass Beads – 25" Strand, Made in Ghana

Handcrafted Flat African Brass Beads – 25" Strand, Made in Ghana

Introducing a stunning strand of flat brass beads, handcrafted by the talented artisans of Ashanti in Ghana, West Africa. These exquisite beads are created using the ancient "Lost Wax" technique, a process where a unique mold is made for each bead and then destroyed to release the finished piece, making every bead truly one of a kind.

Strand length:

  • 25 inches (63 cm) long (from bead to bead)

Bead size:

  • 16-17 mm in diameter

Each bead is 100% handmade, ensuring no two beads are exactly the same. YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).

These beautiful beads are made by the people of Ashanti in Ghana, using a time-honored tradition passed down through generations. The "Lost Wax" technique involves crafting a wax mold for each individual bead, which is then encased in clay and heated until the wax melts away, leaving a hollow space to be filled with molten brass. Once cooled, the clay mold is broken to reveal the finished bead.

In Ghana, brass beads hold deep cultural and historical significance. They are used in traditional ceremonies, symbolizing wealth, status, and spiritual protection. These beads have been cherished for centuries, and their handcrafted nature speaks to the enduring craftsmanship of the people of Ashanti.
