Exquisite Handmade Ghanaian Brass Beads - Discover the unique charm of our brass beads, meticulously crafted by the skilled artisans of the Ashanti region in Ghana, West Africa. Each bead is fashioned using the revered "Lost Wax" technique, a time-honored method ensuring that no two beads are exactly alike.
Dimensions:
- Strand Length: Approximately 23 3/4" (60 cm) - measured from bead to bead
- Bead Size: Length: 38 - 41 mm | Diameter: 11 - 12 mm
YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).
Each bead is birthed from a unique mold of wax, which is destroyed during the extraction process, ensuring the exclusivity of your strand. This collection embodies not only aesthetic beauty but also the rich cultural heritage and skilled craftsmanship of African artisans.
About the Lost Wax Technique
This ancient method involves creating a wax model of the bead, which is then encased in clay. As the clay hardens, the wax is melted and drained away, leaving a perfect mold. Molten brass is poured into this mold, forming the intricate designs that adorn each bead. Once the brass solidifies, the clay mold is broken to reveal the newly formed bead, highlighting the intricate details that make these African brass beads truly exceptional.
The Significance of Brass Beads in Ghana
In Ghana, brass beads are more than ornamental objects; they are potent symbols of wealth, wisdom, and status. Historically used in ceremonial attire and as trade goods, these beads carry the soul of Ghanaian tradition and artistry.
