Lost Wax Technique
These beads are made using the ancient African “lost wax” casting process, a technique that originated centuries ago. In this process, a wax mold is carefully shaped by hand for each bead. After the wax mold is encased in clay and fired, the wax melts away, leaving a cavity into which molten brass is poured. Once the brass cools, the clay mold is broken, revealing the beautifully unique brass bead inside.
