Introducing a beautiful strand of new powder glass African beads, handcrafted by the talented artisans of Kroboland, Ghana, West Africa. These exquisite beads are designed to imitate the timeless elegance of old Venetian fancy trade beads. Each strand is a testament to the intricate artistry and cultural heritage of the Krobo people.

  • Strand Length: Approximately 24 3/4" (63 cm) long
  • Bead Size: Approximately 10 mm in diameter

Crafted from recycled glass bottles and other glass items, these beads are meticulously transformed into powder and then molded to create stunning pieces. Each bead is 100% handmade, ensuring unique variations and a personal touch in every strand.

YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).

Elaborate Craftsmanship and Rich Tradition

The people of Krobo have perfected the art of bead making over generations, utilizing traditional techniques that are both time-honored and environmentally friendly. The process begins with the careful selection of recycled glass materials, which are then ground into a fine powder. This powder is poured into molds to form the beads.

Intricate Decoration

What sets these fancy beads apart is the detailed decoration process. Artisans use a combination of glass fragments, powdered glass, and natural dyes to create intricate patterns and vibrant designs. Metal or wooden tools are often used to etch or paint detailed motifs onto the beads, resulting in unique and captivating designs.

Firing Process

The decorated beads are then fired in a kiln at high temperatures. This firing process fuses the glass powder and sets the designs in place, giving the beads their final, beautiful form. The result is a stunning piece of jewelry that reflects the rich cultural heritage and skilled craftsmanship of the Krobo people.
