Venetian lampwork, or wound glass beads, like this one, are created by winding molten glass around a steel mandrel. The delicate trail decorations, such as the feathered patterns, showcase the skill and artistry of Venetian glassmakers. These beads were highly prized and widely used in the African trade, particularly in Ghana, where they played an essential role in local customs, trade, and adornment.
