A very nice strand of RECENT example of SPINDLE WHORLS from Mali.
The beads are 100% handmade.
Each bead is decorated with unique etched design.
They were originally used to firm the spindle (tool to produce yarns) but often used as ornaments as well.
The necklace is in very good condition (few beads are very lightly chipped).
The strand is app. 25 1/2" (65 cm) long (of beads).
The sizes of the beads are 17-25 mm in diameter.
