A beautiful strand of different NEW powder glass African beads, made by the people of Kroboland/Krobo , IMITATING old Venetian FANCY trade beads and NEW brass beads.

The brass beads are made in the Ashanti region (Kumasi - Ghana , West Africa) using the Ancient "Lost wax" technique.

A mold is prepared for each bead that is destroyed in order to remove the bead.

For each bead a hand made mold from wax is needed.

The glass beads (Krobo land - Ghana , West Africa) are made from bottles and other glass items that are turned into powder, then into molds in order to create this nice looking beads.

RECENT example of SPINDLE WHORLS clay beads from Mali.

Each bead is decorated with unique etched design.

They were originally used to firm the spindle (tool to produce yarns) but often used as ornaments as well.

The strand is 27" (68.5 cm) long (of beads).

The size of the beads is 8-26 mm in diameter.

All beads are 100 % handmade.
