Beautiful New African Fused Glass Beads - Handcrafted in Kroboland, Ghana

Discover the exquisite beauty of our New African trade beads made from recycled glass. Handcrafted by skilled artisans in Kroboland, Ghana, these beads are not only stunning but also eco-friendly, as they are created using small recycled glass beads fused together.

  • Strand Length: Approximately 20 3/4" (52.5 cm)
  • Bead Size: 12 - 13 mm in diameter

YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).

Crafting Technique and Cultural Significance

Our Krobo fused recycled glass beads are created through a meticulous process:

  1. Collection and Preparation: Small glass beads are collected and cleaned.
  2. Molding: The small glass beads are placed into molds made from clay, determining the shape and size of the larger fused beads.
  3. Firing: The molds with the small glass beads are placed in a kiln and fired at high temperatures, fusing the beads together to form larger, opaque beads.
  4. Finishing: Once cooled, the beads are removed from the molds and often polished or refined to smooth out any rough edges.

These vibrant and intricate beads hold deep cultural significance in Ghanaian society, often used in ceremonies and as symbols of status and identity.
