Authentic African Round Brass Beads from Ghana - Lost Wax Technique, 55cm

Authentic African Round Brass Beads from Ghana - Lost Wax Technique, 55cm

Discover this exquisite strand of handmade round African brass beads, crafted by the talented artisans of the Ashanti people in Ghana, West Africa. Each bead is created using the traditional "lost wax" technique, where a new mold is painstakingly handmade for every individual bead. Once the bead is cast, the mold is destroyed, making each one truly unique.

  • Strand length (bead to bead): approximately 21 ¾ inches (55 cm)
  • Bead size: 11-12 mm in diameter

YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).

Brass beads have been an important part of West African culture for centuries. These beads, crafted in the heart of Ghana by the Ashanti people, have been used for ornamentation, trade, and as symbols of status. The lost wax technique, a practice that has been passed down through generations, involves creating a detailed wax model of the bead, coating it in clay, and then pouring molten brass into the mold. Once the brass cools, the clay is broken, revealing the beautiful handcrafted bead inside. This process not only preserves the rich heritage of the Ashanti people but also results in unique, one-of-a-kind creations cherished by collectors worldwide.
