History & Craftsmanship of African Brass Beads

The lost wax technique used to make these brass beads is a remarkable process, dating back centuries in West Africa. A wax mold is shaped by hand for each individual bead. Once the mold is covered with clay and heated, the wax melts away, leaving a hollow form. Brass is then poured into this mold to create the bead. Once cooled, the clay mold is broken, revealing the beautifully crafted bead inside.
