African Round Brass Beads, Handcrafted in Ghana, 20.5" Strand

African Round Brass Beads, Handcrafted in Ghana, 20.5" Strand

Introducing a stunning strand of NEW ROUND African brass beads, crafted by skilled artisans from the Ashanti people of Ghana, West Africa. These beads are meticulously created using the ancient “Lost Wax” technique, a process that ensures each bead is uniquely handcrafted.

To produce these beads, a mold is individually hand-carved from wax for each bead, which is then destroyed after casting, making each bead a true one-of-a-kind creation.

Your strand will be identical to the strand shown in the photograph (given normal variation since these beads are all completely handmade).

  • Strand length: Approximately 20 1/2 inches (52 cm) from bead to bead
  • Bead size: 10-12 mm in diameter

These beads are 100% handmade, celebrating the rich craftsmanship of Ghana’s Ashanti people. Brass beads have played an important role in the culture and history of West Africa for centuries, symbolizing wealth, power, and artistic expression.

The Lost Wax technique is an ancient method of metal casting, used for thousands of years in Africa. A wax mold is carefully sculpted, then covered in clay to create the cast. When the clay is fired, the wax melts away (hence the term “lost wax”), and molten brass is poured in to form the bead. Once cooled, the mold is broken to reveal the intricate, beautiful bead inside.

Brass beads are an iconic symbol of African artistry, often worn in ceremonies, used as currency, and admired for their intricate designs. By owning these beads, you not only add beauty to your designs but also a piece of history and African culture.
