Large African Round Brass Beads – Handmade in Ghana – 15-16mm

Large African Round Brass Beads – Handmade in Ghana – 15-16mm

This beautiful strand of large round brass beads, handcrafted by the Ashanti people of Ghana, is a striking example of traditional African craftsmanship. Each bead on this strand is carefully made using the ancient lost wax technique, where a wax mold is created and then destroyed to cast the brass bead. The intricate work involved ensures that every bead is one-of-a-kind.

YOUR STRAND WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THE STRAND SHOWN IN THE PHOTOGRAPH (GIVEN NORMAL VARIATION SINCE THESE BEADS ARE ALL COMPLETELY HANDMADE).

  • Length of strand (bead-to-bead): Approx. 19 inches (48 cm)
  • Bead size: 15-16 mm in diameter

Made in Ghana by the skilled artisans of the Ashanti community, these beads have deep cultural significance, often used in ceremonial jewelry and trade. Brass beads like these have a long history in West Africa, symbolizing wealth, power, and cultural identity. The ancient lost wax technique, which originated in Africa, involves crafting a wax model for each individual bead, which is then encased in clay. After firing, the wax melts away, and molten brass is poured into the cavity, resulting in a beautiful, durable bead that reflects both history and skill.
