The strips are sewn together into larger pieces of cloths.
It takes from several weeks to months for a weaver to complete a cloth like this depending of the design and size !
Kente is more than just a cloth but is a visual representation of history, ethics, oral literature, philosophy, moral values and religious beliefs. The Kente cloths history goes back to the 17th Century. In present days is still used as a cloth in Ghana but is also used by collectors of fine woven cloths and artifacts as Wall hanging, sofa or bed covering. A real piece of Authentic African art !
